William Mellor Oil on Canvas On The Dee
A fine quality Victorian oil on canvas by Yorkshire born artist Willam Mellor 'On The Dee' near Llangollen c.1890. Superbly painted in typical Mellor style with rich greens to the trees, the sun shining through the mountainous background with cattle watering in the slow flowing waters. Signed by the artist bottom right, William Mellor (1851-1931) born in Barnsley, Yorkshire and painted extensively in Yorkshire, Wales and the Scottish highlands. Well known for his meticulous and delicate painting of trees and foliage, he is a highly regarded and collected artist. Pr...esented in excellent condition and sat in a decorative timber gilt frame. Measures 35" wide x 2.5" deep x 25" high including frame. Stock number 40708.
