William IV Silver Castle Top Thermometer
A William IV period solid silver 'castle top' table top thermometer with bone scale and original mercury action thermometer, hallmarked Birmingham 1830. The solid silver casework with platform foot and small acanthus leaf design feet set below. Scroll and shell design mount holding the thermometer surround with matching embossed decoration. Superbly detailed castle design pediment to the top with trees and bushes to the foreground. Bone thermometer scale reading in Fahrenheit set to the centre with original working mercury action thermometer. Bears the makers mark for Birmingham silver...smiths Joseph Willmore, presented in immaculate condition with a deep shine. Measures 2.25" wide x 1.5" deep x 4" high. Stock number 39264.
