A wonderful small proportioned William & Mary period walnut escritoire with superb fitted interior c.1720. Moulded cornice to the top with bow fronted shallow map drawer set below. Quarter veneered he...rringbone banded fall front opening to reveal a superb original fitted interior with a selection of drawers and pigeon holes, cupboard set to the centre with drawers to the rear and concealed compartment behind. The fall front forming a generous writing surface with raising leathered writing surface to the centre. Moulded waist below with two over three drawers to the base section with book matched veneers and herringbone crossbanding to match the top section; sat on a moulded plinth with bun feet below. Decorative brass fittings, superb colour and polish and presented in excellent condition. Measures 44" wide x 19" deep x 62" high with 31" high writing surface. Stock number 38481.
