A heavy quality Victorian solid silver desk tidy with gimble to the interior holding a barometer. Made for the Earl of Lonsdale, hallmarked London 1893. The heavy quality solid cast silver exterior w...ith matching solid silver base, enamelled in blue to the exterior RYS Verena, one of the Earl of Lonsdale's yachts. Self centring gimble to the interior supporting a silvered dial pocket barometer, storage space below for paper clips etc. Lord Lonsdale had a series of yachts and the Verena was built in 1892/3 matching the hallmarks on this very collectable item. The Verena was the meeting place for the German emperor during Cowes Squadron week in 1894. Bears the makers mark for William M. Traies. Presented in immaculate condition with a deep shine. Measures 3" diameter x 1.75" high. Stock number 35677.
