Victorian Polished Oak Glasgow Ship's Barometer
A quality mid Victorian polished oak ship's barometer, made by Alexander Dobbie of Glasgow (w.1841-85). Fine rope twist carved surround case with a superb polished finish and brass hanging loop to the top. The original white enamelled glass dial bearing the maker's name, sat over an aneroid movement with a cast brass bezel surround and inset thick bevelled edge glass and centre reading marker. Presented in excellent condition with a deep polish, fully serviced and working. Alexander Dobbie of Clyde Place, Glasgow is listed as a Chronometer and nautical barometer ma...ker. Measures 9.5" diameter x 10" high x 2.75" deep. Stock number 40191.
