Victorian Dobbie of Glasgow Ships Barometer
A Victorian carved oak rope twist design ships barometer by Alexander Dobbie & Son, Glasgow c.1890. The solid turned and carved oak case with rope design border. Porcelain dial with weather predictions around the outer edge and makers name, all sat behind bevelled edge glass, which is mounted in a polished brass bezel with central reading marker. The aneroid movement fully serviced & working, presented in superb condition with a rich polish. Alexander Dobbie & Son of Glasgow are noted as chronometer and nautical instrument makers, manufacturing betw...een 1886 and 1895. Measures 9" diameter x 3" deep. Stock number 41722.
