A fine quality late Victorian solid figured mahogany brass inlaid mantle clock with 8 day gong striking French movement, fully overhauled and working c.1890. The figured mahogany case with reeded cushion top, pineapple finial to the centre and small cornice sat below. The front of the case inlaid with scroll design brass decoration, complementing brass strung canted corners. Brass fish scale design grills to the sides and hinged brass door to the rear. Sat on a plinth foot with brass bracket feet to the corners. Convex porcelain enamel dial with Roman numerals and blued steel hand...s, sat behind a hinged bevelled edge convex glass with cast brass frame hinged door. The french 8 day movement with anchor escapement and gong striking on the hour and half hour. Presented in immaculate condition with a deep shine, the movement fully overhauled and working. Measures 9" wide x 6.5" deep x 15.5" high to top of finial  Stock number 40630.
