Very Small George II Period 'Cottage' Cornwall Longcase Clock

A Very Small George II period oak cased 'Cottage' longcase clock made by John Belling* of Bodmyn (Cornwall). Dated 1757. Brass and silvered 10" dial with decorative spandrels to the corners. Thirty hour birdcage movement striking on a bell to the hour. Pretty small proportioned case with moulded cornice and attached pillars to the hood. Shaped top to the case door. Full working order. Superb colour and patina. Stands 71"high. *John Belling of Bodmyn, born 1685 - 1761 approximately. One of the most prominent clock makers of Cornwall. Noted for his small birdcage movement clocks.
