Superb Victorian Silver Carriage Clock by William Comyns
A superb quality Victorian solid silver cased 8 day carriage clock by William Comyns, hallmarked London 1898. The embossed silver case with cherub design decoration to all four sides and the top, small cast silver Rocco style feet to the base and cast silver decorative swing handle to the top. Porcelain enamel dial with Roman numerals and blued steel hands set behind a convex glass set in a silver bezel. The rear hinged door opening to reveal a French movement with platform escapement and 8 day duration; fully serviced and working. The heavy quality silver case bearing the makers name ...for William Comyns along with clear hallmarks to all sections. Presented in excellent working condition with a deep polish. Measures 2.75" wide x 2.5" deep x 6.25" high including handle or 5" high excluding handle. Stock number 41114.
