A Superb Mid Victorian antique burr walnut harlequin Davenport desk with book matched veneers throughout. c.1860. Piano front opening to reveal a leathered writing surface that pulls out and lifts to make a writing slope. Two small stationery drawers with concealed release button for the pop up stationary rack at the back, operated by a counterbalance weight system. Full length drawers to the right hand side, dummies to match to the left. Paneled front and matching rear for free standing, carved and turned columns to the front. London retailers stamp to the interior. Excellent original conditi...on throughout, with good even colour and deep polish. Measures 23" x 22"deep x 36"high.
