A superb original bronze of retrievers in a moorland setting by French sculptor Paul-Édouard Delabrierre (1829 - 1912). Two superbly detailed retrievers set in a moorland setting of ferns and... foliage seeking out two grouse sat in undergrowth to the front edge of the base. Excellent original patina and signed by the artist bottom right of the base. Paul-Édouard Delabrierre, born in Paris in 1829 was a highly regarded sculptor specialising in animals; this piece being typical of his works. He exhibited over 70 pieces of his work at the prestigious Paris Salon and he sculpted two lions, which are set on the facade of the Louvre. Click here for more information on Delabrierre.
