A superb George I period walnut and marquetry inlaid 8 day longcase clock with engraved brass and silvered dial C.1700. The fine quality slim and small proportioned case with long door set with a lent...ical. Blind fretwork panel below the moulded cornice, attached columns to the hood door. Extensive decorative fruit wood inlays to the hood with matching panels of inlay to the door. Inlaid base and plinth. The original brass and silvered dial with date aperture and subsidiary seconds dial. Matching engraved silvered chapter ring bearing the makers name 'Joshua Scott, London., Ring engraved winding holes and cast gilt brass spandrels.The fine quality 8 day movement with bell striking on a count wheel to the hour. Fully overhauled movement and restored dial. Outstanding colour and patina to the case. Measures 6' 10" tall x 19" wide x 9" deep at the hood cornice x 11.75" wide at the trunk.
