Superb Early Victorian Timber Gilt Over Mantel Mirror
A superb quality early Victorian timber gilt three section over mantle mirror with decorative frieze to the top c.1840. Stepped arched cornice to the top with decorative spheres and bead work trim below; superb decorative frieze with horseman on chariots and angles flying above set below the cornice. Reeded pilasters with Corinthian capitals to the top. The three mirrors with moulded edge frame in between; original quarter plate mirror glass with bevel edges. Original parcel gilt finish in excellent patinated condition, the mirrors in excellent condition. Measures 55" wide x 4" deep at the ...cornice x 35" high. Stock number 38597.
