Superb Early Carved Oak Sword Box
A superb and very original 17th century oak sword box with carved front c.1600. Hand sawn six plank construction with the end planks running to the floor, cut out section to the lower half forming the feet. Superb crisply carved stylized floral decoration to the front panel. Overlapped lid with crimped carved edges and original forged iron hook and eye hinges. Opens to reveal a clean and solid interior. Superb deep colour and rich patina. Original lock plate to the front. Measures 49" long x 14.5" deep x 21" high. Stock number 37254.
