A superb Victorian antique quarter sawn oak cased games compendium complete with all the original contents. C.1860. Polished cabinet work with ebony trimmed edges opening to reveal a fully fitted interior. Double doors to the front holding a ebony and boxwood chess set. Leather gaming board held in the lid for playing chess, draughts, steeplechase and backgammon. Two lift out trays of gaming pieces with cribbage board, dominoes and lead horses for steeplechase. Whist markers and cards to the middle tray. Diamond mark to the case for November 1868 date of manufacture. Outstanding quality and c...ondition. Measures 12.5" wide x 7" high x 8" deep.
