A Superb Antique oil on canvas by highly regarded artist,Talbot Hughes(1869-1942). 'The Music Room'.Painted in the French Classical style, typical of Hughes in historical costume. Signed and dated 189...1 to the lower right. In a plaster & timber gilt swept frame. Measures 22" x 18" framed & 17" x 13.5" canvas. * Talbot Hughes born in Chelsea, London, son of still life artist, William Hughes. He painted historical scenes, landscapes, still life and portraits. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from the age of 17 to 1913. His huge 15th Century on wards collection of costumes & accessories is in the V & A in London.
