A fine quality late Victorian campaign barometer by J H Steward, in the the original brown leather protective carrying case c.1900. The immaculate gilded brass case with engine turned bezel for markin...g the last reading with glazed view windows sat over a engraved silvered dial with blued steel pointer; hanging loop to the top. The gilded case sat in the original brown leather campaign case with securing strap to the case and adjustable shoulder strap. Bears the makers name J H Steward to the dial, a highly regarded maker of instruments who date back to the 1860's and traded into the 1970's, and who were makers and opticians to Queen Victoria's household. Presented in full working order and in immaculate unused condition. Measures 3" diameter x 1" deep. Stock number 38398.
