A superior quality Regency figured rosewood writing slope with decorative brass banded exterior and original fitted interior c.1830. The figured rosewood veneered exterior with a broad band of bras...s scroll and acanthus leaf design running continuously around the top outer edge. Recessed brass campaign style handle to the lid with lock escutcheon above. The lid opening in two sections: the larger side folding over to form a leather writing surface and the smaller half opening to reveal a pen and ink section with pen tray, two lidded storage compartments and spaces for ink wells. The top half of the writing surface opening to reveal storage compartment below. Presented in superb original condition with a rich colour and original patina along with a working lock and key. Measures 14" wide x 10" deep when closed and opens out to 16" deep x 4" maximum height. Stock number 40265.
