Primitive James Pratt Askrigg Wensleydale Stick Barometer

A primitive George lll red walnut cased stick barometer by sought after Wensleydale clock maker James Pratt of Askrigg c.1820. The simple solid walnut case with elegantly shaped top and base and the edges with cock beaded trim. Engraved two piece scale, one for Summer readings and the other for Winter; the Winter scale unusually showing 'snow' and 'much snow' at the bottom of the scale.
