Period Oak Six Plank Coffer
A superb early period oak six plank coffer with carved frieze and original working lock and key c.1700. Overlapping top with stop moulded edge and original hook and eye hinges. Single plank front with decorative carved frieze and matching planked back. The side planks forming the feet with a primitive and simple design. Original lock plate and clasp to the front and working lock with rare original key. Opens to reveal a clean interior with candle box sat to the side. Excellent condition and original rich dark patina. Measures 42" long x 14" deep x 25.5" high. Stock number 36977.
