A matching pair of Victorian bronze Marly horses on the original polished black slate plinths c.1890. The two bronzes each depicting a rearing horse and their groom; based on the classical sculpture by Guillaume Coustou. Each piece with superb detail throughout and with an excellent original patina. Both bronzes mounted on the original polished slate plinths, one marked Africa and the other Europe ie one for each continent. Superb quality and presented in excellent condition condition with a rich patina, some minor snips to the edges of the plinths as to be expected wi...th original plinths. Each measures 11.5" wide x 5.5" deep at the plinth x 14.75" high. Stock number 42149.
