An outstanding quality and complete Victorian figured oak cased games compendium and original contents in immaculate condition c.1890. Solid quarter sawn figured oak case with ebony strung edges for a...dded durability. Hinged lid to the top and twin hinged doors to the front with inset brass lock escutcheon. The lid lifting and the double doors opening to reveal a fully fitted mahogany and ebony lined interior. The complete and original contents including the fold out leather board inset to the lid for playing chess, draughts, backgammon or steeplechase. Full ebony and boxwood chess set sat on individual holding pins in the double doors. Two further lift out trays to the interior along with lower compartment holding the chess pieces, cribbage board, dominoes and dice. Sets of cards along with scoring markers for bezique and whist. Full set of steeplechase horses in cast lead along with two box wood dice shakers and selection of coloured bone counters and markers and more! Presented in superb original and difficult to find complete condition. Case measures 12.5" wide x 8" deep x 7" high. Stock number 38030
