An outstanding quality Victorian figured walnut stationary and writing box with immaculate original satinwood fitted interior and contents c.1890. Figured walnut exterior with slightly domed top, c...ast brass carry handles to the sides. The domed hinged top opening and the front falling to reveal an immaculate original satinwood lined and fitted interior. The rear section fitted with a selection of slots for paper, envelopes and correspondence along with the original leather bound address, cash accounts and letter book in unused condition; even the original postal rates and calendar are sat in their slots. White glass notes board and matching engagements board along with leather bound ink blotter. Three drawers to the lower back with pen, ink and nib compartments sat below. The front section folding over to form a writing surface with original tooled leather surface and internal storage compartment. Matching leather panel to the interior of the lid to hold scissors pens and pencils. Bramah lock in working order complete with key. Presented in immaculate original condition with a rich polish. Measures 16.5" wide x 9.5" deep when closed and opens out to 28.5" deep x 11.5" high. Stock number 40453.
