Outstanding Chippendale Period Serpentine Fronted Secretaire Chest
An outstanding quality Chippendale period mahogany serpentine fronted secretaire dressing chest with superb original fretwork feet C. 1770. The single piece figured timber top with moulded edge sat over a three drawer serpentine front with blind fretwork to the canted corners. Matching fretwork to the base plinth. The top drawer fully fitted and pulling out to reveal lidded compartments and a small leathered writing surface opening and folding over to form a dressing mirror. Original high quality fretted back plate handles and matching lock escutcheons, sat on the original open fretwork leaf a...nd vine design feet. Superb quality and condition with a deep shine and original patina. Measures 37.5" wide x 20.5" deep x 33" high. Stock number HS1.
