An outstanding quality Chippendale period mahogany serpentine fronted secretaire dressing chest with superb original fretwork feet C. 1770. The single piece figured timber top with moulded edge sat ov...er a three drawer serpentine front with blind fretwork to the canted corners. Matching fretwork to the base plinth. The top drawer fully fitted and pulling out to reveal lidded compartments and a small leathered writing surface opening and folding over to form a dressing mirror. Original high quality fretted back plate handles and matching lock escutcheons, sat on the original open fretwork leaf and vine design feet. Superb quality and condition with a deep shine and original patina. Measures 37.5" wide x 20.5" deep x 33" high. Stock number HS1.
