An original oil on canvas by highly regarded Yorkshire artist William Mellor 'On the Llugwy, North Wales' c.1900. William Mellor born in Barnsley in 1851 working in Harrogate, Ilkley and Scarboroug...h, he travelled widely and was inspired by the scenery in North Wales as well as Yorkshire, well known for his meticulous and delicate painting of trees and foliage; today a highly regarded and collected artist. Superbly painted in typical Mellor style, with great depth and mellow early autumn colours set against a cloudy blue sky. Sheep grazing on the right hand river bank and the water falling to a lower pool over rocks. Signed by the artist to the bottom left, set in a quality swept timber gilt frame and the subject inscribed to the rear in the artists hand. Presented in superb clean original condition. Measures including the frame 35" high x 25" wide. Stock number BA111.
