A fine quality original oil on canvas depicting a Venetian scene by highly regarded French artist Marc Aldine 1870 - 1955 (Antoine Bouvard Senior). Superbly detailed and instantly recognisable as t...he work of Aldine with fine detail to the architecture and a deep blue sky that draws you in, depicting an early summers evening with gondolas moored on the calm waters. Signed by the artist to the bottom right and presented in superb condition in a quality timber gilt frame. French born artist Antoine Bouvard Senior trained as an architect and became director of Architectural services for the Seine and was responsible for many famous projects. He worked as an artist in the early 20th century and his eye for architectural detail and love of Venice shows in his works; he became one of the most prolific painters of Venice and his works are as popular as ever now.
