An Edwardian period oak miners or pit head stick barometer by highly regarded maker Negretti & Zambra c.1900. Figured solid oak case with canted corners and arched top, heavy cast brass bezel w...ith inset glass sat over the angled brass scales. Thermometer sat to one side with remotely adjustable vernier marker set to the other and mercury action barometer tube set to the centre. The movement fully overhauled and working and reading lower and higher pressures for use in pits (after the Mines act of 1872 barometers of this nature were required for safety purposes). This example presented in superb condition original condition and full working order. Measures 34" long x 3.25" wide x 2" deep. Stock number 41654.
