A fine original oil on canvas by highly regarded and sought after French artist Marcel Dyf (1899-1985) 'Cottages in the French countryside'. Superbly painted French landscape in the impressionist s...tyle and colouring typical of the artist with superb depth and Autumn colours; excellent impasto to the trees bringing the painting alive. Signed by the artist in the bottom right corner, remnants of the Frost & Reed gallery label to the rear with stock number and 1978 date. Marcel Dyf was born in Paris in 1899 and moved to Arles in 1922 to train as a painter, where he set up a studio. He exhibited extensively including in Paris and Cannes, where he attracted the attention of American collectors. In England his works were exhibited and sold through Frost & Reed in London. Sat in the original Frost & Reed frame. Presented in superb original condition with no damage or repairs. Measures over all 38" wide x 33.5" high. Stock number BA113.
