Late Victorian Portable Thermometer and Case
A late Victorian nickle plated portable thermometer in the original leather covered case C.1890. Tubular form with engine turned finish to the edge of the top and base to aid opening and closing of the instrument. Ebony platform to the interior which revolves to reveal a bone thermometer scale with original mercury action thermometer and closes to reveal the ebony platform for protection when not in use. Hanging loop to the top. Comes with the original wine red leather covered traveling case. Presented in immaculate unused condition with a deep shine. Measures 3.5" long x o.75 " diameter.
