A large Victorian oil on canvas by well regarded artist Peter Buchanan sat in the original quality gilt frame. 'Lake Windermere' in late summer, superbly painted with good detail and mellow colours. S...igned by the artist to the lower right. Sat in the original timber gilt frame with plaiter work decoration and original gilt finish. No damage or repairs. Peter. S. Buchanan working 1860 - 1911. Glasgow born landscape artist painting mainly in oil. Exhibited 20 works between 1871 and 1883 at the RSA, and exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1887 and 1888. Later moving to London, then Windermere, finally settling in North Wales. Measures 48" wide x 34" high including the frame. Stock number MB 02.
