A superb large late Victorian carved oak long eared owl on rocky perch c.1900. Superbly carved in solid oak with wonderful detail throughout, including individually carved wings in flight ...;and dark brown glass eyes to the detailed face. The owls claws holding a scroll with a Lain inscription set in a to the front 'In Arte Voluptas Londinium' - In art there is pleasure, London. Mounted on a rocky perch, the piece is designed for free standing if required. An unusual large statement piece presented in superb condition with a rich patina. Measures 17" wide at wings x 14" deep front to back x 16.5" maximum height. Stock number 41534.
