James II Period Oak Geometric Chest
A James II period oak geometric moulded split chest in superb original condition c.1680. Thin planked top with scribed edges sat over a framed front with a shallow moulded panel top drawer. Deep geometric moulded drawer below with two additional moulded panel drawers to the lower half; each with original brass pear drop fittings. Original stiles forming the feet and panelled sides with the chest splitting in two across the centre, which is typical of early pieces to aid moving furniture in narrow enclosed staircases. Oak lined drawers with recessed runners to the si...des and original back boards. Superb colour and original patina, presented in excellent original condition. Measures 40" wide x 22" deep x 36" high. Stock number 41124.
