An impressive and fine quality George III period figured mahogany 8 day longcase clock with painted moon phases dial by John Clarkson of Liverpool, fully overhauled and working c.1810. The fine qua...lity figured mahogany case with Chinoiserie decoration to the swan neck pediment hood. Double Chippendale style reeded columns to each side of the glazed door and matching columns to the door. The trunk door with oval panel surrounded by book matched panels, double columns either side of the trunk to match the hood. The base section with circular flame veneered panel surrounded by book matched panels to match the door. Sat on a moulded plinth with small ogee bracket feet below. The original painted dial with Roman numerals and superbly pained decoration to the corners depicting the four seasons. Moon phases to the arch forming a lunar calendar, subsidiary seconds dial and calendar dial to the dial centre complimented by the original brass hands. The 8 day movement with anchor escapement and bell striking on the hour, fully working moon phases and calendar. Presented in superb original condition with a rich colour and patina to the case, the movement fully overhauled and working. Measures 93" high x 24" at widest point x 11" deep. Stock number CS169.
