Immaculate Victorian Sewing Box
An immaculate Victorian birds eye maple needlework box with mother of pearl and ebony trimmed edges plus original fitted interior c.1875. Birds eye maple veneers to the exterior with the chamfered edges of the lid trimmed in mother of pearl and ebony decorative banding. Engraved silver cartouche to the centre of the lid and diamond shaped lock escutcheon to the front. The hinged lid opening to reveal an original fitted interior, which includes a silk strip to the lid interior to hold needlework tools in place and lift out fitted tray for sewing implements: pins, needles etc. Addit...ional storage compartment below the fitted tray. Presented in immaculate condition with a rich polish to the box and the original fitted interior. Measures 11" wide x 7.5" deep x 4.5" high. Stock number 41830.
