A quality George III period mahogany stick barometer with engraved silvered scale and architecture pediment by Grachi of Shaftsbury; fully restored and working c.1810. The slim case with book ...matched feathered mahogany veneers to the trunk and double box wood banding to the moulded edge. Hinged glazed door to the scale with architectural pediment to the top and turned cistern cover to the base. The engraved two piece silvered scale with original mercury action thermometer to the left and weather predictions with pressure scale and vernier marker to the right, plus mercury barometer tube set to the centre. Bears the makers name Grachi, Shaftsbury, who is recorded as making barometers between 1800 and 1830. Presented in immaculate condition with a rich polish, fully serviced and working. Measures 38" long x 5" wide at the pediment x 3" wide at the trunk x 3" maximum depth at the pediment. Stock number 41931.
