A George III period oak cased longcase with brass dial by John Fisher of Preston, fully overhauled and working c.1760. The slim oak case with moulded cornice to the hood and blind fretwork pan...el below with gilt relief, pilasters set either side of the glazed view window. The slim trunk with long door in figured oak with quarter sawn oak crossbanding to the edges, quarter columns sat either side to match the hood. Canted corners to the base with moulded plinth and small ogee bracket feet below. Engraved brass dial with four seasons spandrels to the corner, date aperture and panel bearing the makers name John Fisher, Preston (recorded as making clocks between 1737- 82). 30 hour movement with anchor escapement and bell striking on the hour. Original condition throughout with a rich patina to the case, the movement fully serviced and working. A short video of this clock chiming is available on our YouTube channel - click here to view. Measures 79" high x 23" wide x 12" deep at the hood. Trunk measures 14" wide x 7.5" deep. Stock number 39101.
