An impressive George III period figured oak cased 8 day brass and silvered dial longcase clock by Barrow of Stockport, with phases of the moon to the dial centre c.1780. The figured solid oak case ...with moulded cornice to the hood and lacquered decorative band above the glazed dial door, reeded pilasters set either side. The slim trunk with shaped top mahogany crossbanded door, reeded quarter columns to either side matching the hood. The base with mahogany crossband forming a panel and moulded plinth with bracket feet below. 8 day bell striking on the hour with anchor escapement, fully overhauled and working (Click here to view a short video of the clock). Brass dial with engraved silver chapter ring filling the centre, painted moon phases set to the upper half displaying the age of the moon. Decorative gilt brass spandrels set to the corners. Bears the makers name Thomas Barrow, Stockport. Presented in superb fully restored condition with with a rich colour and polish to the case, fully overhauled and working. Measures overall 79.5" high x 23" wide x 12" deep at the cornice. The trunk measures 14.5" wide x 7.5" deep. Stock number 39102.
