George III Mahogany Knife Box
A stylish George III period serpentine fronted mahogany knife box with original fitted interior c.1780. The figured mahogany exterior with kingwood banding to the edge. Sloping lid and serpentine front, original silver plated handle to the lid and lock escutcheon below with working lock and key. The lid lifting to reveal an original fitted interior with fretted panel cut out to hold the knives, fruitwood strung decoration set between. Presented in immaculate condition with a rich colour and patina. Measures 8.75" wide x 12" deep x 15" maximum height. Stock number 39087.
