A fine quality fully restored George III period mahogany cased 8 day double fusee bracket clock with engraved brass and silvered dial by James Green, London c.1760. The mahogany case with bell style top, brass carry handle and pineapple finials to the corners. Glazed door to the front with arched view window, decorative fretwork panels with silk behind sat to each side of the arch. Circular and inverted arched top glazed view windows to each side of the case and glazed door to the rear. Moulded edge plinth to the base with small splayed polished bracket feet to the corne...rs. Brass and silvered dial with matted centre and engraved silvered chapter ring, cartouche bearing the makers name and date aperture to the lower half of the dial centre. Strike and silent dial to the top of the dial allowing the strike to be silenced, gilt brass spandrels set to each side and to the corners of the chapter ring; original blued steel hands. The 8 day double fusee movement with engraved back plate and anchor escapement, strikes a bell on the hour, fully overhauled and working (click here to see video).  James Green is recorded as being apprenticed in 1722 and working in Fenchurch St.  He was a member of the Clockmakers company 1760 - 1804 and Master of the company in 1784. This superb example in excellent condition with a rich polish, fully overhauled and working. Measures 19.5" high including handle x 10.5" wide x 6" deep.  Stock number 39104.
