A fine quality George III period mahogany framed Gainsborough chair recovered to a high standard in watermarked silk c.1780. The substantial and well shaped frame with with moulded swept fronts to ...the open arms, arm pads sat on top and swept top padded back to the rear. Deep webbed seat sat over moulded front legs to match the arms with splayed back legs and supporting H stretcher. Sat on the original brass castors with hardwood wheels. Fully reupholstered to a high standard in quality dark red watermarked silk. Very sturdy, comfortable and useable, presented in excellent original condition with a rich patina to the frame. Measures 26" wide x 27" deep x 39.75" high to the top of chair back x 19" seat height. Stock number 38483.
