A George II period oak cased 8 day longcase clock by Henry South of Rotherham with fine quality engraved brass and silvered dial c.1735. The slim oak case with caddy top to the hood and pillars to ...either side of the dial. Long slim trunk with broken arch to the door, shallow base with original plinth foot. 8 day bell striking movement with count wheel striking and many early features including iron pillars; fronted by a brass and silvered dial. The dial with fine quality engraving and ringed winding holes, silvered chapter ring and date aperture; unusual moon face to the subsidiary seconds dial. Bears the makers name Henry South, Rotherham 1710 - 1750. Presented in superb original condition with a rich patina to the case, the movement original to the case and fully overhauled and working.
