George I Period Oak Deed Box Dated 1718
An original George I period oak deed box, dated 1718. Figured oak construction with sloping hinged lid and carved front panel bearing the owners initials. Carved rose to the left of the lock plate and date of 1718 to the right. Original hand forged hinges and matching lock plate with clasp. Opens to reveal a clean interior with original fitted drawers. Superb colour and original patina. Purchased from a local estate and believed to be local to the Dales in manufacture. Measures 25" wide x 18.5" deep x 12" maximum height. Stock number 35544.
