An unusual George I six plank oak coffer with carved frame three plank front c.1720. Six plank construction with moulded edge hinged top, hand sawn back and shaped foot to the side planks. The fron...t with unusual framed construction, with geometric motifs to the top rail and moulded edges, and carved relief to the rest of the frame. The hinged lid with original hand forged hook and eye hinges; lock clasp to the front matching the original lock plate. Opens to reveal a clean interior. Superb original rich colour and superb patina, presented in excellent original condition. Measures 38" long x 16.5" deep x 20" high. Stock number 40110.
