A stylish George I period figured oak fall front bureau in superb original condition c.1720. Figured oak sloping fall front to the top with moulded book rest to the lower edge. Two half width... drawers set immediately below with double cockbeaded frames sat around the drawer edges and a moulded waist below the drawers also returning around the bureau sides. Three additional full width graduated drawers below, with matching figured timbers and double cockbeaded frame sat around the edges to match the top drawers. Moulded plinth to the base with original integral bracket feet below. The fall front opening and resting on pull out sleepers to form a writing surface; fitted drawers and pigeon holes to the back of the interior. Period pear drop brass handles with circular backplates to the drawers and brass lock escutcheons, working lock with original key to the fall front. Superb original mellow colour with a wonderful rich patina. Presented in excellent condition. Measures 37" wide x 21.5" deep x 37" high at the back x 32" writing surface when open.
