A fine quality small proportioned Regency period double fusee rosewood bracket clock by Aldred of Great Yarmouth c.1830. The quality small proportioned rosewood case with chamfered top, brass ...pineapple finial to the centre and moulded edge sat below forming a small cornice. The front with recessed brass mounted panels sat to each corner, carved moulding below with shallow plinth forming the base. The plinth with canted corners and brass inlays with complementing adjustable brass bun feet below. The sides with brass scale design sound frets, leaf design ring drop handles and glazed door to the rear. The original convex painted dial with Roman numerals and the makers name, sat behind a matching convex glass, which is set in a cast polished brass hinged bezel forming the door with key release to the side. The 8 day double fusee movement with shaped plates, anchor escapement and bell striking on the hour; the pendulum with central regulating adjuster and traveling securing screw.
John Aldred is recorded as making and retailing fine quality clocks and chronometers in Broad St, Great Yarmouth between 1827 and 1875. This example presented in superb condition, the movement fully overhauled and working. Sold with 12 months guarantee. Measures 10.5" wide x 6.5" deep x 15" high (17.5" including finial).
