A fine quality late Victorian walnut cased barograph with thermometer by highly regarded maker Dollond of London, fully serviced and working c.1890. The quality polished walnut case with moulded fr...ame to the bevelled edge glass cover, moulded waist below with two section chart drawer underneath and small bracket feet set to the corners. The 8 day duration movement with platform escapement, remote pressure and nib adjusters. Original ink bottle with application stopper sat to the side and bone scale mercury action thermometer to the side of the chart drum. Original gilt finish to the brass platform and mechanism frame. Bears the makers name Dollond, London to the case. Dollond of London were barometer, scientific instrument makers and optician to William IV and Queen Victoria. Dollond also exhibited at the 1851 Great Exhibition in Crystal Palace, London, where the company was awarded a medal for developing an instrument that records meteorological information onto paper. Presented in immaculate original condition with a rich polish to the case, fully serviced and working; supplied with ink and charts ready for use. Measures 14.5" wide x 8.5" deep x 9" high.
