A fine quality George III period figured mahogany stick barometer by John Wisker of York, fully restored and working c.1820. Architectural pediment to the top with decorative turned and ...carved finial to the centre. Glazed door below with fruitwood and ebony strung edge, sat over the engraved silvered scale. Slender trunk below with feathered veneers and a stringing down the centre of each side to match the door; visible barometer tube set to the centre. Turned cistern cover to the base with strung banding. The silvered scale with the makers name Wisker, York; John Wisker was recorded as making barometers in Spurriergate, York between 1804 until 1822. Fully overhauled movement, the case in immaculate condition with a deep shine. Measures 39" long x 5" wide at the pediment and 2.25" wide at the trunk x 2" maximum depth. Stock number 40002.
