Fine Quality Elliptical Inlaid Mahogany Mantel Clock
A fine quality and unusual elliptical shaped Edwardian inlaid mahogany cased mantel clock with French 8 day movement c.1900. The solid mahogany case with unusual elliptical shaped top sat on a swept plinth with moulded edge base below and small brass bun feet. The dial surround quarter veneered with figured timber and inlaid with ebony fleur-de-lis decoration. The outer edge strung with fruitwood and ebony chequered stringing. Porcelain dial with Roman numerals and blued steel hands set behind a a bevelled edge glass mounted in a polished brass bezel; 8 day Paris made movement wit...h platform escapement sat behind. Fully overhauled and working, presented in immaculate condition with a deep shine. Measures 7.5" wide x 3.5" deep x 8.5" high. Stock number 39259.
