A fine quality early Victorian walnut two drawer writing table by highly regarded maker L.W.Collmann, London C.1850. The burr veneered surface edge with moulded outer edge and good quality black inset... tooled edge leather writing surface. Two drawers to the front with original turned knobs, moulded lower edge and polished panels to the sides and back to allow free standing. Sat on a stylish twin pedestal under carriage, each pedestal with a broad upright and moulded supports to the base and under edge. Turned half columns, to the face edges, rounded end foot with turned feet concealing brass castors. Show burr timbers to the drawer faces, the left drawer stamped with the makers name and serial number. Leonard William Collmann was a highly regarded cabinet maker and worked on the entrance to the British Museum along with many notable properties in London, he also exhibited at the 1862 exhibition. Superb in every detail and presented in immaculate condition with a deep shine and original patina, very sturdy and useable. Measures 54" long x 26" deep x 30" high. Stock number 36203.
