A fine quality and collectable solid silver 'wager' cup in superb condition, hallmarked London 1903. The base of the cup in the form of a skirt with hand chased scroll design decoration and the bodice of a lady above. The arms of the lady holding two supports with a smaller cup suspended above; decorated to match the base. Traditionally used at weddings, the groom drinking from the larger cup and the bride the smaller one at the same time. These cups are sometimes used in the Victorian era for drinking games, men would bet they could drink from both cups without spilling. Bears the mak...ers mark for Hanau silver retailer Berthold Muller along with London import hallmark for 1903 (Sterling silver). In addition there is a retailers mark for Singleton Benda & Co; specialist importers of this kind of item. Heavy quality 8 troy oz and presented in immaculate condition with a deep shine.
